State Teacher's Union Honors Patrick Riggs
Patrick Riggs has been named the recipient of the Theodore Bass Memorial
Teacher-in-Politics Award for the Redwood Service Center Council, which
runs from the Oregon border to San Francisco.
Riggs was noted for his political work within California Teachers Association,
as well as in the larger community.
Riggs has held numerous political leadership positions within teachers'
union, including serving two terms as president of the Eureka/South Bay
Teachers Association.
Last fall, he managed the field campaign in Del Norte and Humboldt counties
to defeat the initiatives in the special election.
Most recently, he was elected to represent Northwestern California on
the CTA ABC Committee, which is the political arm of the teachers association.
He also serves as chairman of the Humboldt County Democratic Central
Committee and is a member of the board of directors for Local Solutions
Political Action Committee.
”I am honored that the Redwood Council has chosen to recognize
my political work,” he said. “My goal is to help create
a better future for (the children).”
