LOCAL SOLUTIONS BOARD CONTINUES TO GROW
Progressive Political Action Committee Adds Nicole Spencer to
Board of Directors
EUREKA – Local Solutions, a local political action committee
(PAC), continues to expand and has added another local organizer
to their board. Nicole Spencer now joins Patrick Riggs, Alice
Woodworth, Dennis Huber, and Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap on the Board
of Directors. Local Solutions is dedicated to electing candidates
with vision who have a commitment to long-term strategies to
keep Humboldt County a desirable and livable place for future
generations.
Nicole Spencer has successfully managed and coordinated political
campaigns at the city and county levels. She was a key organizer
in defeating the attempted recall of District Attorney Paul Gallegos;
the re-election of Eureka City Councilmember Chris Kerrigan;
and most recently co-managed the sweeping victory of Measure
T, which passed in June to prohibit campaign contributions from
non-local corporations.
“Nicole has worked tirelessly for social change in our
community. She has a wealth of knowledge and skills, and we’re
thrilled to have her on board,” said Dennis Huber, spokesperson
for the group.
Spencer lives in Eureka. She graduated from Humboldt State University
in 1999 and completed the Cascadia Leadership Program in 2006.
She currently works for HSU University Advancement and was previously
employed by the Alliance for Sustainable Jobs and the Environment,
a labor and environmental coalition. “I’m excited
to work with Local Solutions to elect candidates who are committed
to principles of grassroots democracy, local control, ethics,
and integrity,” she said.
Local Solutions has endorsed Nancy Abrams, Larry Glass, Ron
Kuhnel, Peter LaVallee, Bonnie Neely and Dave Meserve for the
upcoming November elections. You can find out more about Local
