LOCAL SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
EUREKA - Local progressive political action committee Local
Solutions announced Friday that they are launching a new website
as part of a new focus for the group.
"We've updated our look and the information on our site to better
serve the people of Humboldt County," said Dennis Huber, the
spokesperson for the group. "We're excited to see the surge in
active citizen participation in recent local elections - we hope
to make that participation even larger in the upcoming races."
According to the website, " Local Solutions seeks to protect
and enhance our quality of life by recruiting, advising, supporting
and helping to elect candidates for local public office who will
work together to ensure civil and human rights, democratic local
control of schools, land use, development and planning, sustainable
economic development, and appropriate and equitable levels of
basic social services to all citizens in Humboldt County."
The website also provides information about the group's current
projects, offers resources on local governance in Humboldt County,
a listing of which candidates have been endorsed by Local Solutions
and information for how people can get involved with the group.
"We hope to connect with more citizens who want to be part of
making progressive social change in Humboldt County - across
political party lines," said Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap, who recently
joined the board as part of a structural change to the group. "We're
looking forward to the November races, but we also want to help
involve people in the day-to-day issues facing our community."
